UPSC Recruitment 2017 through Engineering Services Exam(IES Exam):

Union Public Service Commission is the Central govt organization to conduct and hire the candidates for the vacancies available in Central govt organizations.Its headquartered in Dholpur House, in New Delhi.UPSC conducts various examinations for the positions like UPSC IES(Engineering Service), IAS, IPS, IFS, NDA, NA.For other grade vacancies, the examinations are conducted by Staff Selection Commission(SSC) or direct by the organization.The final merit list for the UPSC exams is fully based on the merit list.

UPSC IES-Indian Engineering Services Exam(ESE): UPSC IES Exams are conducted yearly once.These Exams objectives are to hire the talented engineers for govt organization.It consists of written examination and interview.For the year 2017-18 the notification announced on 27 September 2017 and the application process ends on 23 October 2017.

Qualification:

  • Obtained a degree in Engineering from a University or
  • Passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution  of  Engineers  (India); or
  • obtained a degree/diploma    in Engineering from such foreign University/College/Institution and under such
    conditions as may be recognized by the Government for the purpose from time to time, or
  • Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India); or
  • Passed Associate Membership Examination  Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India; or
  • Passed Graduate   Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November 1959

Note:

  • For Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engg. Posts)  ‐  M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject.
  • For Indian Radio Regulatory Service – M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject or Master’s Degree in Science with Physics and Radio Communication or Electronics or Telecommunication as a special subject.

Age Limit for IES 2017(As on 1 Aug 2018):  21-30 Years.( i.e., he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1988 and not later than 1st August 1997)

UPSC IES Exam Pattern & Syllabus:

The Engineering Services exam consists of Written Test, Personality test.The written exam has Phase-I Preliminary Examination & Phase-II Main Examination.The candidates who cleared the cut of in IES Preliminary exam only called for the main examination.For general section the syllabus for all engineering disciplines is common.For Engineering subject section candidates need to choose questions from ‐Civil Engineering (OR) Mechanical Engineering(OR) Electrical Engineering (OR)Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering depend on their academics

Phase-I: IES Preliminary Examination: 500 Marks (Objective Type)

  • Paper 1: General Subjects & Basic Engineering Aptitude(2 Hours & 200 Marks)
  • Paper 2: Questions for Engineering Subject specified by candidates(3 Hours & 300 Marks)

Phase-I: IES Main Examination:600 Marks(Conventional Type)

  • Paper 1: General Subjects & Basic Engineering Aptitude(2 Hours & 300 Marks)
  • Paper 2: Questions for Engineering Subject specified by candidates(3 Hours & 300 Marks)

Personality Test:200 Marks

The final merit list is prepared by the marks obtained in all sections.
